Dr. Richard Bloomstein has been practicing orthodontics for 40 years. He graduated from Trinity College, Temple University School of Dentistry and did his Orthodontic training at New York University Dental School. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthodontics.
By combining his practice with Dr. Sacks, Dr. Bloomstein is able to devote more time teaching at Rutgers School of Dental Medicine where he is Vice-Chairman of the Orthodontic Department. He also serves as Pre-doctoral Program Director and Co-director of Dentofacial Deformities (surgical treatment). In addition Dr. Bloomstein Co-directs interdisciplinary Treatment Seminars and is a member of the Craniofacial Deformities Team (clefts). Dr. Bloomstein is also on staff at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and lectures at Montefiore Hospital. At Rutgers he currently mentors two research projects, one on cleft palate and another on facial esthetics.
Dr. Bloomstein is past president of Essex County Dental Society, Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity, and former chair of the Livingston Advisory Health Committee. Presently he chairs the Essex County Peer Review Committee.
He and his wife, Linda, have lived in Livingston for 40 years. Their two children Lauren and Larry graduated from Livingston High School. In his leisure time Dr. Bloomstein swims, surfs, golfs and is an avid reader. However his greatest pleasure is spending time with his grandchildren and their parents!
